1. Who we are
My Birth Plan UK (mybirthplan.uk) is a free tool that helps expectant parents prepare a written birth plan to discuss with their NHS midwife or maternity team. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the site.
2. What information you enter
The birth plan questionnaire asks for personal and health-related information, which may include your name, due date, NHS number, medical history, and birth preferences. This is necessarily sensitive information under UK data protection law (the type referred to as "special category data," which includes health information).
3. How your information is handled
The questionnaire runs entirely within your web browser using client-side code. We do not operate a database, server-side storage, or analytics system that captures the content of your answers. Specifically:
- Nothing you type is sent to us, to any server we control, or to any third party.
- Nothing is saved between visits. If you close the tab, refresh the page, or your browser session ends, your answers are permanently lost and cannot be recovered by us or by you through this site.
- The completed birth plan document is generated and downloaded directly within your browser. We never see its contents.
Because we do not collect this information, we have nothing to delete, disclose, or be breached. We'd encourage you to download or print your finished plan before closing the page, since there's no way to retrieve it afterwards.
4. Cookies and analytics
We may use minimal, privacy-friendly website analytics (such as aggregate page-view counts) to understand how many people use the site and which pages are visited. This does not include the content of your birth plan answers and does not personally identify you. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels.
5. Hosting and technical data
Like any website, our hosting provider may log basic technical information automatically (such as IP address and browser type) for security and performance purposes, in line with standard web server practice. This is not linked to anything you enter in the questionnaire.
6. Your rights
Because we don't hold any personal data about you, the usual data subject rights under UK GDPR (such as access, correction, or deletion requests) don't apply in practice, as there is nothing on file to access, correct, or delete. If you believe this is not the case or have any concerns, please contact us using the details below.
7. Children's information
This site is intended for use by expectant parents and their birth partners. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information relating to children.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we introduce new features. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
